General Disclaimer

The information provided by OpenLTE (“https://www.openlte.com”) is for general educational and informational purposes only. Everything on the site is offered in good faith, but we make no representation or warranty of any kind, express or implied, about the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of any calculator result, guide, or museum entry. Using the site is entirely at your own risk.

Not Engineering, Safety, or Regulatory Advice

OpenLTE is not a licensed engineering firm, a spectrum regulator, or a certification body. The path-loss, link-budget, antenna-gain, dBm-and-watt, wavelength, and Shannon-capacity calculators, along with every article and Learn entry, are educational tools that apply standard formulas and general radio-engineering knowledge. They are not a stamped design, an RF-exposure assessment, or a substitute for a qualified RF engineer, your equipment manufacturer, or your national spectrum authority.

Do not treat a computed path loss as a guarantee a link will work, a link margin as proof it is safe or legal, or an antenna length as a finished build. If a decision involves radiating power, human RF exposure, licensed spectrum, or equipment you intend to deploy, consult the appropriate qualified professional and the regulations that apply to you before acting on anything you read here.

Estimates, Not Exact Figures

The calculators use widely accepted formulas and simplifying assumptions — ideal line-of-sight propagation, lossless symmetric antenna patterns, catalogue component figures, and theoretical channel limits. They are only as good as the numbers you enter and the assumptions behind them. Real outcomes vary with terrain, obstruction, weather, multipath, interference, temperature, connector and cable condition, and equipment tolerances. Free-space path loss in particular is a best case that a real path only exceeds. Use every result as a planning aid, not a guaranteed outcome.

Radio Transmission & Safety Risk

Transmitting radio energy is regulated and can be hazardous at high power or close range. Nothing on OpenLTE tells you what you are licensed to transmit, whether an installation meets RF-exposure limits, or whether it will interfere with other users. Always:

For any question about whether a design, a power level, or an installation is safe and legal, defer to a qualified RF engineer, your equipment vendor, and your spectrum regulator over anything this site produces.

No Warranty

OpenLTE expressly disclaims all warranties, whether express, implied, statutory, or otherwise, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that our tools, calculations, or information are error-free, accurate, or complete, or that the website will always be available without interruption.

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, in no event shall OpenLTE be liable for any direct, indirect, punitive, incidental, special, or consequential damages — including equipment damage, interference, regulatory penalties, or any harm arising from a design or transmission decision — related to your use of, or reliance on, our tools, guides, and information.
